Falsehood Part 1: False Teaching

Falsehood Part 1: False Teaching Falsehood Part 1 : False Teaching 2 Peter 2:1 to 2:3 1. But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. 2. And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. 3. And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long tome lingereth not, and their damnation slumbered not. We are living in a time of false teachings, false teachers, and false prophets. It’s a time that our Lord and Savior warned us would come. These people have turned our relationship with God into a business with their teachings. Our faith has become a commodity that many ministers, pastors, priests, and evangelists are competing for and trading just like stocks on wall street. These preachers are giving people sermons that are pleasing to the ears in order to lure them into their congregation. They preach pretty, uplifting sermons every time they stand in the pulpit that make everyone feel so good about themselves that they can’t wait to run out and buy tickets for their next public appearance, their latest book, DVD, or CD. They even sell copies of the Bible repackaged with their own footnotes and interpretations of the scriptures printed in them giving us their version of the gospel. Jude 1:3 to 1:5 3. Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. 4. For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. 5. I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not. An uplifting message is a great thing and is something that we do need to hear. When this is all that we hear though, it becomes a problem. All too often ministers puff up their congregations with pretty sermons constantly and never preach on the sin in their lives and the consequences of such sin. They lead their congregations into a false sense of salvation. These ministers are so afraid of losing offerings and tithes, that they never point out the things that people have in their lives that they should get rid of. They’re also afraid that if they tell you that something you have in your life is wrong, is sin, is not of God, you’ll get mad a stop buying their books, DVD’s, CD’s, and other merchandise. People are being misled through false teachings because of a sin; greed! If people stop buying their merchandise and paying to see them, they can no longer live in huge mansions, fly in private jets, and live like movie stars instead of ministers of God. Matthew 7:15 7. Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. These ministers are doing everyone a great injustice. They have put a price tag on salvation. Instead of teaching how to have a personal relationship with God and how to live free of the bonds of sin so that we may find our path to the promised land, we are being misled. We are being sold a mass-produced, prepackaged, easy to swallow, shined and polished commodity called “religion” at manufacturers suggested retail price, of course. Beware of these teachings. As always, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Don’t let someone teach you that everything is perfect in your life, because it isn’t. All of us have to deal with sin on a daily basis and if you haven’t been taught to recognize it, avoid it, and the consequences of partaking in it, you’re in trouble. You’ve been left unawares, unprepared, and set up for a great fall. The fall into darkness. Don’t be left vulnerable by these false teachings. There’s too much at stake here; our very souls! Pete 3-18-09
