What is a church?

What is a church? First of all, I think that most people consider a church to be a building with a tall roof, a steeple on the top, and a cross on the front. That's where you would be wrong. A building with a cross on it is just that; a building with a cross on it. That is a building that a church meets in. The actual church is the people who come together to learn about God and to pray to him. The pastor, the teachers, the people in the seats, even the guy that mops the floor; that's the church. If all of us that are in this ministry got together in the middle of a field or out in the woods or in somebody's back yard, guess what; we would still be a church! If three or four of us are in a car, riding down the interstate and talking about God and Jesus, we're having church. Here's the scripture from the Holy Bible that tells us so.... It's from the New Testament, the book of Matthew, Chapter 18, Verse 20. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am in the midst of them. Matthew 18:20 These are the word's of Jesus himself, you know, the ones in the Bible written in red. He's telling us himself. When we gather together to learn and talk about him and to pray to him, we are the church. Pete 11-22-08
