God Has A Dress Code?
God Has A Dress Code?
I've heard this question from many people. What does the way I dress have to do with me being a christian? So many people have felt put down, judged, even condemned for the way they dress or wear their hair or make up.
Some churches have strict doctrine concerning the way you dress as a member of their congregation and if you go to that kind of church, you should respect that. But, if you feel that you can't be yourself while you're in that church, you should look for another church where you will feel at home.
Personally, I don't think that women should wear skirts so short that they show everything they've got while at church and I don't want my fiancee showing what she's got to everybody anyway. As far as guys go, I just wouldn't wear something with cussing or naked women on it to church. You know what's respectful and what's not.
On the other hand, I don't think you should be judged just because you like to wear black, or you wear jeans instead of dress pants. I wear jeans to church all the time myself. There's a right way and a wrong way to do anything. You can be respectful without wearing a suit or long dress all the time.
I've got one scripture I want to give you on this subject.
John 7:24
Do not judge by appearance, but judge with righteous judgement.
Jesus made this statement because he was being accused of blasphemy because he healed a man on the sabbath and according to the law of Moses you're not suposed to work on the sabbath. So don't feel alone when you're accused of being wrong for the way you dress. The hypocrits were ready to kill Jesus for making a man whole! As you see people have been wrongly judging others for thousands of years. Just try to be respectful in church, but don't be like something you're not; Jesus wouldn't want you to do that for sure!
