Hard of Hearing
Hard of Hearing
In today's times, many people are guilty of going to church, sitting through Sunday school, the singing, and the sermon and walking out the door the same as they were when they walked in. They heard the word of God coming forth through the preacher, the teacher, or the singer, but didn't actually 'hear' any of it. Or maybe they did really hear it, but didn't apply any of it to their lives. They walk back out of the sanctuary and go back to living whatever way they want, ignoring the word of God that was brought forth during the service.
People who do this are endangering their very souls. They were given 'bread', but turned it down. They chose the ways of the world over the ways of our Lord when given the chance at salvation. They grow fat and rich on worldly things, while their soul is starved and morally bankrupt.
James 1:22-1:25
22But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
23For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
24For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
25But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
Luke 11:27-11:28
27And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked.
28But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.
Matthew 13:13
13Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.
Luke 11:3
3Give us day by day our daily bread.
4But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
In closing, when the word of God is being brought forth, be sure to pay attention and don't be "Hard of Hearing". Remember that the bread that we really need in order to survive, is the word of God. It could be vital to your place in eternity.
