Too Far Gone To Be Saved?
Too Far Gone To Be Saved?
Some people think that because they've done some things in their lives that there's no way they could be saved or could be a Christian. That's just not true at all. Let me tell you about a man in the bible. He was called Saul of Taursus and he was a devout Jew. He was well educated and was commited to serving God. The thing was that all that Saul new about were the laws of Moses and the Jewish way of life. He never met Jesus Christ during his life on earth. Saul was so zealous and devoted to his Jewish religion, that when he heard of the Christian movement, like many Jews of the time he felt that their beliefs were blasphemous and were a threat to his religion and way of life. He led other men in hunting down Christians, dragging them from their homes and worship centers and having them thrown in prison or even put to death. You would believe that there was no way this man could be saved. He must be on the fast track to hell, right? Well, while on a trip to the city of Damascus hunting down more Christians, something happened to Saul. A light shown down from heaven and Saul heard a voice. The voice asked Saul why he persecuted him and his followers. Saul asked, "Who are you Lord?" and the voice replied, "I am Jesus, the one you persecute." The men with Saul saw what was happening, but didn't understand. Saul lost his vision while bowed down on the ground and Jesus told him to continue into Damascus to a certain house and a man would meet him there and heal him. All of this happened to Saul just as Jesus told him it would. This convinced Saul that Jesus was truly the Son of God. From that point on, Saul stopped hunting Christians and became the strongest supporter of Jesus and spent to rest of his life spreading the Christian religion to the entire known world at that time. Saul of Taursus also went by another name; Paul. The Apostle Paul went on missionary trips all over the middle east and europe spreading God's word. He also wrote letters to many of the churches he helped to start at the time. These letters were also known as epistles and they make up about half of the New Testament of the Holy Bible that we have today. Not only did this killer of Christians get saved, but he also wrote a large portion of our bible and was eventually captured and crucified by the Pagan Roman govenment for spreading the Christian religion. Saul or Paul went from persecuting Christians to being one of the greatest Christians in history. Now, do you think your sins are bad enough that you can't ask for forgivness and be saved?
If you want to learn more about this story get your bible out and read in the book of Acts, chapter 9. If you want to read Paul's writings turn in your bible to the books of Romans,1st Corinthians, 2nd Corinthians, Galations, Ephesians, Phillipians, Collosians, 1st Thessalonians, 2nd Thessalonians, 1st Timothy, 2nd Timothy, Titus, Philemon, and possibly teh book of Hebrews as well.
