Response

Response I recently was sent an invitation to read and respond to someones blog. I checked it out and read a lot of the responses. Many of them were putting down Christianity and trying to disprove it. They all kept talking about it being a 'religion', like any other beleif system. This was my response to all of that. Everyone's comments keep mentioning 'religion'. I am a Christian minister and am happy to say that I am 100% 'religion' free. Religions do not offer you salvation and forgiveness of sin. Only Jesus does that. He taught us to show love to everyone, even our enemies. He would not want us bad-mouthing each other for our differing beliefs. He would and did offer people His teachings and if they didn't accept them, He moved on and left them to their fate, whatever it may be. Jesus never told people to believe Him or else. You can't convert someone to Christianity at gunpoint or swordpoint. He even told us that He came to save us, not to condemn us. Christianity is believing in Christ's teachings with all your heart and giving your life over to living your life in His ways. It's not about rituals, crusades, cults, and all the garbage you see on television, the newspapers, magazines, and movies. It's simply about trying to live your life in a way that is more Christlike. Jesus the Christ was a human body with the spirit of God living within Him. He was the only flesh to ever walk the earth free of sin. He then to the weight of all of our sins upon Himself when He was crucified on the cross. That's right, our God became flesh, died for us, and was resurrected out of love for the human race. Our God is all about love. Yes, in the Old Testament, God The Father did condemn and kill sinners. He then saw that the only way to save us was to offer a part of Himself, His Son, as a sacrifice for our sins. That was the ultimate sacrifice and ultimate act of love. No other God in any religion has done that for anyone. Christianity is not a religion it is the way to salvation, a way of life, and the way to eternal life. Maybe that's why in the beginning, Christ's first followers were called 'The Way' before the term Christian was used years later. The peace of the Lord to all of you my brothers and sisters, Pete.
