June 11th 2008 New Disciples History Part 1 Blog From Friday, August 15, 2008, 3:49am by Allen Christian So Why The Mispelling of "Diciples" Current Mood: hopeful If you're like most truth seekers of this current generation, you know that something is missing from the modern church world. Maybe some of you can put your finger right on it, maybe some of you can't but either way you know deep inside you that things are not the way that they are supposed to be. You know that the modern church is falling short and you're not just going to settle for empty religion and pointless rituals. The mispelling of "Diciples" is a subtle reminder that we are seeking that missing piece of the puzzle. The piece of the puzzle that will allow us to break the chains of useless, man-made traditions and find the truth that we are all desperately seeking. If you find yourself in this position, diligently searching for that missing part of your life, then join us and hopefully we will all find that missing "S"omething together... New Disciples History Part 2 Blog From Saturday, August 16, 2008, 4:47pm by Pete Morrison The Missing "S" Part 2 Current Mood: Blessed I read Allen's blog entry this morning and couldn't believe what I was seeing. I was just talking to Michael the other day about this. I was telling him that when I set up the group I didn't catch the mispelling of the group name until I was well into it. I started to delete everything and start over again, but something told me not to. I just had this gut feeling that there was a reason for it. I asked Michael if that sounded crazy and he said not really. Then I set up the Myspace page for our ministry and gave Allen the password to get in and work on it. Imagine my surprise when I read the blog entry. I was blown away. It just goes to show that we must be doing something good here if we're able to connect like this. Then again, what do you expect from a guy named Allen CHRISTIAN! While I'm at it I just want to thank you for being part of this ministry, because if you're taking the time to read this, you're becoming a part of our cause! Jan 30, 2010 New Disciples History Part 3 Blog From Friday, August 29, 2008, 11:23pm by Pete Morrison Searching For Something More What is it that today's Christian church is missing? Unless you feel fulfilled by going to Wednesday night service at seven or eight o'clock and Sunday school and the sermon on the weekend, you still feel something is missing. You show up, go to Sunday school, hear the opening prayer, listen to a few songs or hymnals, sit through the sermon, give your offering, say a closing prayer and say amen. Is that all that church is supposed to be? Don't get me wrong, I love my home church. I couldn't ask for a more understanding pastor and a more honest one at that. He preaches a great message and reminds people to live right without tearing down on them and making them feel like dirt. He doesn't wear expensive suits, drive a new car or get paid to minister. But, when it's all said and done, I still feel like I need something that the modern church isn't giving me. Why has today's church forgotten it's history? Why have they forgotten all those who died so we could go to service every week? Remember when Nero burned half of Rome so he'd have room for a larger palace and thousands of Christians were killed because he blamed it on them? Remember the apostles being hanged, crucified, and flayed for spreading the word of Christ? Remember that JESUS DIED FOR ALL OF US? Where are the old rituals, customs, feasts, ceremonies, holy artifacts, and religious quests? What happened to celebrating the day of Pentecost, the Passover feast, or THE REAL REASON FOR EASTER? Believe me, it doesn't involve rabbits, eggs, and chocolate. Remember the quest for the holy grail, the search for Noah's ark, or the Ark of the Covenant. These aren't just plots for Indiana Jones movies! If you believe THE WORD, you believe that these things exist. When did we stop preaching The Word and start preaching doctrine? Church is not about the way you dress or the music you listen to or the amount of money you give. If you're like me, you want to learn about the people who made the church what it is. If you're like me you want to remember the old feasts and the fellowship that comes with them. I want to know more about the world that Jesus lived in, that Moses lived in, that Noah lived in. I want to find out what the old rituals in the synagogues were like. I simply want more from my church experience. I want religion to be what God wanted it to be. I hope that we can give that to each other through this ministry. I hope that all of us New Diciples can get to that place. 1-30-10
