What God Taught Me This Weekend
What God Taught Me This Weekend
This past weekend, I hosted an event for the Follow Me Tour that I'm a part of at the lodge that I'm a member of. I put a lot of work into getting the place ready for and invited several family members and friends from the area. I was also getting stressed out because the Lexington Barbeque Festival was going on that same day and I was afraid that someone would unlock the chains for our parking lot and we wouldn't be able to get everything set up for the event. Well, everything went smoothly. The parking lot was still locked so I could let people in and out, I had the place cleaned up and ready, and I had bought refreshments for everybody at the event. I also was able to direct everybody around the crowds and get them there on time. So, my tour brothers and sisters made their way to Lexington from Statesville, Stony Point, Salisbury, Mooresville, Claremont, and Troutman. It was looking good as far as organizing the event went, but in the same periode of time, things were also going bad. Several of my friends and family contacted me and had to cancel for different reasons. I was disappointed of course, but then I remembered something the Jesus said two thousand years ago and I knew that it had to be this way.
Matthew 13:54-59 (King James Version)
54And when he was come into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, insomuch that they were astonished, and said, Whence hath this man this wisdom, and these mighty works?
55Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?
56And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things?
57And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house.
58And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.
Jesus was prophesying to all of us ministers if we would just pay attention to it. We will be honoured with respect in our ministry except in our own home. I got to thinking about this. Between all of New Disciples Ministry's pages, taking into consideration that many are friends on more than one page, we've probably got in the neighborhood of 4,000 friends. So, there are thousands of people who at least have knowledge of the ministry I started and many of them have actually read the writings I've published and now the writings of my friends working in the ministry. When it comes to my hometown though, very few people even know of the existence of New Disciples Ministry or The Follow Me Tour. In fact, there are more people in India that know about this ministry than there are in my hometown. So, I shouldn't have been surprised by the small turnout. It wasn't a total loss by any means though. My friend Shane who I hadn't seen in 5 years brought his brother and his brother's stepson. My brother brought our mom to see it and my rapper friends brought a minister friend who really enjoyed it and is interested in hosting an event at his church. Plus, we had an amazing service with almost all of the 22 in attendence taking the oppurtunity to speak up during our messege about our struggle against the enemy during our walk with God. The greatest thing about it, was the unseen visitors that were in attendence. The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. God is good, all the time.
Your brother in Christ, Pete.
